No time for market graph? Use LP transfers!

In the last article we learned how to use Loyalty Points to acquire a ship blueprint copy, and then use that to build a faction vessel. But sometimes you just can't be bothered with all the industrial hassle, and you are looking for a way of quickly cashing out. That's where the LP transfers come in, where you can send your hard-earned Points to another organization and receive ISK in return.

LP Transfers at Glance

LP Transfers are one of the fastest and most flexible ways of trading that currency. Rather than relying on old-fashioned exchange contracts where you sold the BPCs, you transfer the LP directly to another corporation. This can be done anywhere, at any time, just as if you were transferring ISK to another player. Seems too good to be true?

The biggest problem with the transfers is that they are highly unregulated. Aside from the fact that the LP disappear from your wallet, there's no way to tracing the transaction. If your buyer claims that they did not receive your LP, there's very little you can do to prove otherwise using in-game tools, as there is no ledger of any kind tracking LP-related operations. As such, only transfer LP to trusted parties, and make sure to capture screenshots of the process to have something to show when the transactions doesn't go according to the plan.

LP Transfer Step by Step

With the warning out of the way, let's make our first transfer. To begin with, open your in-game Wallet, then click on the "LP Corporations" button found in the top-right corner of the window. Here, navigate to the "Donate" tab.

This will open the donation form. In the "Transfer to", enter the corporation name that will be receiving your LP. You can narrow down the displayed results by using the dropdown to the right and setting it to "Exact Phrase". After you type in the corporation name, a little list with the matching results will be displayed, click on the corporation you want selected for the operation. Double check if the selected corporation is the one you want to transfer to, as there is no undo button if you go ahead with the operation.

Below, in the "Corporation" dropdown, select the NPC corporation of which LP you want to transfer. Next, enter the amount of LP you want to send over. With the form filled in it should look something like this:

Filled in "Donate" tab with LP transfer ready to be sent

With all of that set, all there is is to click the "Transfer" button, grab a screenshot of the confirmation screen, and confirm the transaction. Well done, that's your first LP transfer completed! Reach out to your buyer and await for the agreed payment.

LP Conversion Corp

There's one more use for LP transfers - instead of sending the Points to other players, you can send it to your alt corporation. Why would you do that? Imagine you have an out-of-militia alt character that you use for market and hauling. If you put such a character in a brand new corporation, where you are the sole owner of it, you can use the transfers to speed up the LP conversion process. Rather than having to move your main, LP-earning character to a station where you want the items redeemed, then flying back to warzone, you can simply park your alt in the desired station, send the Points to their corporation, and use that to cash out your LP. That way the items are already in the inventory of the character that will be hauling/selling them, saving you the hassle of contracting them. It may feel like a bit of an overkill to set up a completely new corporation just to push LP a little bit easier but if you get committed to the Faction Warfare life, it's a nice little trick to streamline your revenue stream.

Summary

And that's all there is to the LP transfers! To sum it up:

  • Send LP to trusted parties only

  • double check the recipient of the transfer

  • grab screenshots of the operation to have some proof that you did send the LP

  • You can set up your own corporation to which you can send LP to make cashing out easier

I'm sure that with the newfound knowledge you will be selling your LP quickly and securely. Now enough reading, get out there and put all that information to good use!
